Organisations and community groups that rely on volunteers to support disadvantaged Australians and encourage the inclusion of vulnerable people are invited to apply for a 2018 Volunteer Grant.
Paterson MP Meryl Swanson said she encouraged eligible constituents in her electorate to apply for their share of the 2018 funding allocation.
“Active members are the lifeblood of our community groups,” Ms Swanson said. “We need our volunteers - to support, to connect and to make a difference.”
Grants for amounts between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help not-for-profit community organisations or groups to support their volunteers through practical measures.
These could include the purchase of small equipment items, reimbursement for volunteers’ fuel and transport costs, or contributions towards the cost of training and background screening checks.
The grants are designed to make volunteering easier, safer and more enjoyable and to support, encourage and increase participation in volunteering.
