MESSAGE FROM MARK BUTLER, MINISTER FOR HEALTH AND AGED CARE – 2023 Booster Advice

Yesterday, the Health Minister and Chief Health Officer announced a new round of COVID boosters.

ATAGI 2023 Booster Advice – top lines

• A new booster is available for adults from 20 February 2023.
• You are eligible to get the booster if you are over 18, haven’t had COVID in the last six months, and haven’t had a booster shot in the last six months.
• (Six months = before 20 August 2022)
• If you are an adult at risk of severe illness, it is strongly recommended you get the booster.
• This booster is not available to children under 18, unless the child aged 5-17 is at risk of severe illness.
• The new omicron-specific booster is free and available at pharmacies, GPs and community health centres.
