DEFENCE MUST TAKE PFAS MESSAGE BACK TO PRIME MINISTER

DEFENCE MUST TAKE PFAS MESSAGE BACK TO PRIME MINISTER

Enough is enough! That is the message Defence representatives need to take back to the Prime Minister from the people of Williamtown.

At the PFAS community information session today, I called on Defence to take our community’s comments back to the Prime Minister.

They are exhausted. They have had enough. They just want out.

The PFAS pollution from the RAAF Base is not just a problem for Defence, it is a problem for the Prime Minister, and he must listen.

The community can’t wait another 10 years for this mess to be cleaned up.

We heard again today that there has been no change in PFAS levels in groundwater since 2017, despite $100 million being spent.

And so, we’ll have more remediation, more monitoring, more information, more talk.

Well, it’s time the Prime Minister walked the walk.

Scott Morrison has visited our region. Defence Minister Peter Dutton has visited our region. And yet neither of them has been to see the people of Williamtown.

It is time the Prime Minister found a way to help the people of Williamtown move on.

I will continue to advocate for my community, to listen to my community, and to do all that I can to help them recover.

Defence made this mess. The Prime Minister must clean it up.
