PATERSON WANTS A FAIR GO AND FEWER TAX LOOPHOLES
Shadow Assistant Treasurer Andrew Leigh and Member for Paterson Meryl Swanson held a tax fairness forum in Raymond Terrace today to tackle the Liberals’ scare campaign.
Under our changes to dividend imputation, no one will pay a single cent more income tax. No one will lose anything from their super contributions. No one will lose anything from their pension. No one will lose their dividends.
Pensioners will not be affected, and people will still be able to reduce their tax burden by using franking credits, but only if they pay income tax in the first place.
Labor has a plan to deliver a fair go for Paterson because we believe in an Australia with real wage growth and income tax cuts directed towards the battlers that need them; a nation with better schools and hospitals; and fewer tax loopholes that favour the top end of town.
While the Liberals have been doubling net debt, Labor will deliver our Fair Go Action Plan to tackle the nation’s big problems.
A Shorten Labor Government will increase wages through cracking down on the misuse of labour hire; we’ll have a living wage; and restore penalty rates for working Australians.
A Shorten Labor Government will expand universal early childhood education to 3-year-olds; invest $14 billion into our public schools; enable 100,000 students to go to TAFE without upfront fees; and uncap university places which will see 200,000 more Australians go to university over the coming decade.
Labor is able to spend more on schools and hospitals, offer bigger, better, fairer tax cuts for millions of Australians, and pay down the debt faster because we've closed tax loopholes.
Labor knows the problems that Australia faces and knows how to fix them.
This election is a choice between Labor’s plan for better hospitals and better schools versus bigger tax loopholes for the top end of town under the Liberals.
After six years of Liberal cuts and chaos, our united Labor team is ready to serve.
